The good news for Minnesota is that running back Adrian Peterson will probably make his debut this week against San Francisco. Peterson has not been in the preseason so far, sitting out both against the Texans and Bills.

Should Peterson suit up and hit the field, this would be his first preseason appearance since the 2011 season. He missed all of last season recovering from that ACL tear. He went on to rush for 2,097 yards, so a preseason isn’t exactly a big concern.

But head coach Leslie Frazier would like to get Petersen into a little bit of game action prior to Week 1.

He happens to be going against arguably the best defense in the NFC in the 49ers. San Francisco has allowed just 23 total points in two preseason games, and the starters for this preseason matchup will likely be in for at least the first half.

If Peterson plays a few series it will be a great test for both the offense of Minnesota and the defense of the 49ers.
