For the Jets, things only got worse as the last preseason game approaches. While head coach Rex Ryan would have liked to have named a Week 1 starting quarterback, he appears to be even further away from doing that than he was entering last week.
Rookie Geno Smith got the start, but he looked like a rookie in that one, going up against the New York Giants. Smith threw three interceptions, ran out of the back of the end one for a safety, and looked like he had little control over the offense.
To add insult to injury (literally), Ryan decided to input Mark Sanchez in the game in the fourth quarter with all of the backups in. Sanchez was knocked to the ground and injured his shoulder in his final play of the night, having to leave the game.
Ryan is now left with a rookie quarterback and another quarterback that has a shoulder issue heading into the Eagles matchup.
Philadelphia answered their quarterback question by announcing that Michael Vick would be the starter. Vick might play a series or two in this one, if at all. Expect to see Nick Foles and Matt Barkley take the majority of the snaps. Vick has looked good this preseason and should adapt well to the style that Kelly wants to implement on offense this season.
