When first looking at this game on the schedule, one probably didn’t envision that San Francisco would enter with just one victory on the season so far. But that is exactly the scenario that the 49ers are faced with coming into the game.

After a big win in Week 1 over Green Bay, San Francisco has been blown out in back-to-back weeks, scoring a combined 10 points over the last two games. That latest was a 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. But what’s worse is that the loss came at home, where the 49ers have been very good.

There is cause for concern, but San Francisco fans shouldn’t panic just yet. That does make this game against St. Louis all the more important though, as the 49ers could fall to an unthinkable 1-3 with a loss.

The Rams also sit at 1-2, and had an equally poor performance this past weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. The 31-7 defeat comes on the heels of a 31-24 defeat to Atlanta in Week 2, after winning in the opener.

St. Louis couldn’t do much offensively, and couldn’t stop anyone on defense either. Some big-time adjustments will need to be made going up against Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco offense.

While the 49ers might view this one as a must-win, the Rams probably see this as more of an opportunity. A victory at home here would be a huge step in the right direction for this team.
