This is a measuring stick game for the Huskies, with many wondering whether or not they are ready for this big of a stage. We know that Stanford has shown that they can handle it over the past couple of seasons, as Washington now looks to join the party.

The Huskies do a lot of things well, including running the ball. Washington ranks 11th in the country in rushing, averaging 288 yards per game. They also put up 40 points per game and are coming off of a 31-13 win over Arizona.

We will learn a lot about this Washington team over the course of the next three weeks as they begin a gauntlet of a schedule. Following Stanford, the Huskies will host No.2 Oregon next week, and then No.22 Arizona State after that.

As for the Cardinal, it’s been cruise control up to this point. They were supposed to be tested by Arizona State, but dominated the Sun Devils 42-28 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicates with late points scored by ASU.

Stanford has a history of playing well in big games, and this is certainly that. They have a very balanced offensive attack and are comfortable running the ball more or passing it more if they have to. That makes them difficult to prepare for.

The Washington defense ranks 4th in the country in scoring, giving up just 10 points per game. That includes holding Boise State to six points in the opener. This Huskies defense looks pretty good, and might be up to the challenge Saturday night.
