There are a couple of storylines that many will be talking about heading into this one. On the field, the New York Giants remain winless, sitting at 0-6 on the season. It’s their worst start in several decades. Also on the field as it relates to the Vikings, newly signed quarterback Josh Freeman formerly of Tampa Bay was named the starter. This will be very interesting to watch as things move forward.

Off the field, the story of Adrian Peterson and the death of his estranged two-year old son whom Peterson learned about two months ago continues. Peterson missed practice on Wednesday to attend the child’s funeral, but was back practicing on Thursday.

Peterson will need the reps with his new quarterback. Freeman definitely brings in a new element to this team. Exactly how many different play calls and how much of the Minnesota offense Freeman operates will remain to be seen.

If New York is going to get its first win of the season, it’s pretty simple what they need to do. The Giants are committing too many turnovers, beginning with Eli Manning who leads the NFL in interceptions this season so far. But it hasn’t just been interceptions, as New York has put the ball on the ground plenty as well.

Protecting the ball will be a point of emphasis for both teams. For the Vikings, they don’t want to throw everything at Freeman and cause the big mistake with a turnover either.
