The NFC East division is certainly something at this point in the season. The New York Giants at 2-6 are just two games back with eight games to be played. Yes, that’s correct. Dallas let a victory slip through their fingers on the road on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Up by six with less than a minute to play, Detroit navigated down the field with no timeouts to score the game-winning touchdown with just seconds to play.
The loss was in spite of a huge game from Dez Bryant, who expressed his displeasure of not getting the ball on the sideline and throughout the post game. Bryant had a couple of touchdowns in the loss, and wanted the ball more to exploit a matchup he felt he had the advantage in.
Bryant will get a chance to go up against one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL in the Vikings. Minnesota ranks 29th in the league against the pass, allowing 288 yards per game through the air.
This matchup between quarterback Tony Romo, Bryant, and the rest of the Cowboys receiving corps definitely look favorable. Especially when the Vikings are struggling so much on offense as well with the quarterback position.
With Josh Freeman still in doubt with a concussion, Christian Ponder will go if Freeman can’t. Freeman’s debut with Minnesota was not good, but it was hard to expect a stellar performance from a player who had joined the team just days prior.
Dallas is the big favorite in this one and they should be. The Cowboys fell to 4-4 on the season but are still in the lead of the NFC East.
