The Seahawks didn’t look very good against St. Louis on Monday night, having to make a goal line stand in the final seconds to pull out a 14-9 win. Seattle’s offense was virtually shut down by the Rams defense, and perhaps a blueprint was created for stopping Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and the rest of the offense.
Of course, this blueprint might be better suited for teams outside of the Buccaneers, who at 0-7, are probably not going to come in and hand Seattle its second loss of the season.
Stranger things have happened though, and if its going to take place it will start defensively with Tampa Bay. The Bucs strength this season has been stopping the run. Wilson will have a tough matchup throwing receivers open with Darrelle Revis in the secondary though. That is if the Bucs decide to put Revis is some man coverage instead of the zone schemes that he has primarily been in this season for some inexplicable reason. Tampa Bay is essentially minimizing what they can do on defense with Revis in a zone.
In man coverage, the defense can then create all kinds of exotic blitz packages to throw at the quarterback, but that has yet to transpire.
Seattle is probably anxious to get after rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, who will be making his fourth-career start on Sunday. Though to be fair, Glennon hasn’t been the reason Tampa Bay is losing. In fact, Glennon is playing well enough to win them games.
