Washington got a win that they needed to keep up with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, who coincidentally defeated the Vikings this past Sunday.
The Redskins came away with a 30-24 win in overtime over the San Diego Chargers, courtesy of a Darrel Young four-yard touchdown run on the first possession in the extra session. The win brings Washington to 3-5 on the season, but only two games out of the division lead of the Cowboys.
The matchup against Minnesota on Thursday is favorable, because the Vikings are struggling. The key of course will be to stop Adrian Peterson. But the 22nd-ranked rushing defense and 28th-ranked passing defense isn’t exactly what you are looking for.
But offensively, the Redskins are solid, especially when it comes to running the football. Establishing the run early and opening up passing lanes for Robert Griffin III will be the key to a Washington win in this one.
At 1-7, not much has gone right for Minnesota this season. They have lost four in a row and after the game against the Redskins the get Seattle, Green Bay, and Chicago. The Vikings could easily find themselves sitting at 1-11 at that point if they don’t get the win this Thursday.
